The parents of his father are Randy Grimes a Pentecostal minister and Angie B. Barker. A strict and religious family Luke Grimes went to Dayton Christian High School. Luke quit high school after graduation in 2002, to relocate to New York City and pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where he studied acting over two years. To enhance his ability to sing the musician took guitar lessons and singing lessons.
