She was initially inspired by shadows reflected on grass. Months later she devised a process which did not create the object she chose on canvas as a flat image. If the object is alive or perishable like fruits and people and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of their own. Alexa's painting style exhibits a hazy quality and the only thing remaining of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Both the painting and photographic techniques are so closely coordinated that the end result is a flat, two dimensional space, which achieves trompe l'oeil, wherein the third dimension is only visible within certain places like near the eyes or in hair. Meade has integrated her model paintings into the 3D space that surrounds the models. Interaction between them and this created world is conceivable. This way, the line between photography and painting is dissolved.
